POLICE ARE urging people 'not to speculate' or 'make social media comments' about a hit and run which took place in Deeside this week.
The incident, which occurred in Shotton shortly after 5.30pm on Wednesday (September 11), left a child in a critical condition and saw a man arrested.
North Wales Police said it received a report of an incident on Central Drive, Shotton, involving a motorcycle and a young child, which closed the road.
The rider of the motorbike failed to stop following the collision, police said.
Now, in the latest update from the force, Superintendent Jon Bowcott has urged people not to speculate over the incident.
He added that social media comments could 'prejudice future potential legal proceedings'.

Superintendent Bowcott also urged the public to 'respect the family's privacy' during what is an 'incredibly difficult time'.
In his statement, he said: "As people may already have seen, yesterday afternoon emergency services responded to a distressing incident where a young child was involved in a collision with a motorcycle and has suffered serious injuries, they remain in hospital.
"This is an incredibly difficult time for the family of the child involved, and I would urge all parties to respect their privacy, whilst we are supporting them with specially trained officers.
"In addition to the above. please be mindful that Detectives are undertaking a careful and thorough investigation, and as arrests have been made, I would urge the public not to speculate or make any comments on social media that may prejudice any future potential legal proceedings.
"My thoughts, and I’m sure the community’s thoughts are with the child involved and their family and those who had to respond to such a challenging and emotional incident."
