WORKERS at a food supplier in Flintshire raised over £1,400 in memory of a local man who tragically took his own life.

Staff at the Brakes Foodservice on Deeside Industrial Estate marked World Suicide Prevention Day with a fundraiser in memory of Connah's Quay local, Jamie Wynne.

Jamie, a talented footballer, tragically took his own life nearly two years ago to the day - aged just 28.

A spokesperson for Brakes said: "(Jamie's brother) Ben is a close friend of ours as Jamie was, too. With him being a local lad, many knew of Jamie and his family - and as a business we felt it was important to support this family and the importance of suicide awareness.

"To mark the two-year anniversary of Jamie's passing and of Suicide Awareness Week, Brakes Foodservice held a charity fundraising day for the MIND charity. "

The company raffled off four matchday hospitality tickets for a Liverpool Football Club. There were also tuckshops, a themed canteen day, virtual games and quizzes to include staff members who work from home in other parts of the country, as well as a keepy-uppy challenge.

In the end, the day raised a brilliant £1,430 in aid of Mind.

Jamie was a huge Liverpool FC fan, and everyone wore red or football shirts to support what Jamie loved the most.

Ben Wynne said: "We are so grateful for Brakes holding a memorial day for Jamie and raising awareness of mental health and the Mind charity, which is so important.

"A special mention to those who organised the day."
