A MAN has been arrested after a child was hit by a motorbike in Flintshire.
The incident, which occurred in Shotton shortly after 5.30pm, has left a child in a critical condition.
North Wales Police said it received a report of an incident on Central Drive, Shotton, involving a motorcycle and a young child, which closed the road.
The rider of the motorbike failed to stop following the collision, police said.
Police said the child was airlifted to Alder Hey hospital having sustained life-changing injuries.
The force were appealing for information following the collision, and this morning (September 12) have confirmed that a male, who they suspect to have been the driver of the motorbike, has been arrested in another force area.
A spokesperson for North Wales Police said: "Following an RTC in Shotton yesterday in which a child was seriously injured by a motorbike, we can confirm that the male suspected to be the rider at the time of the collision has been arrested in another force area, and is currently in police custody.
"They will be transferred to North Wales today and interviewed by detectives. Anyone with any information that will assist our investigation should contact us via our live webchat online or on 101 quoting ref Q137770."
