TWO WREXHAM AFC fans unexpectedly bumped into one another in an airport across the world ahead of the latest home match.

Tomos Fisher had been traveling back to his hometown of Wrexham, from Guangzhou Airport in China when his Welsh football shirt was recognised by a fellow Red Dragons fan.

Johnny Xu approached Tom to share their mutual love of the club before explaining he was catching the same flight to see the derby match against rivals Shrewsbury Town on September 7.

After discovering the club through award-winning docu-series Welcome to Wrexham, Johnny's love for Wrexham AFC has grown rapidly.

He said: "I love supporting such a unique team, especially with players with strong personalities like James McClean.

"I've supported them for a whole season now, since League Two, and it's my second time seeing them live. The first was last season, 6-0 Forest Green Rovers.

"My experience was great. The atmosphere of the town is fantastic. I'd love to learn more about the culture here."

Tom, who works for his family construction company, said: "I was so surprised and happy when he came over. The chances of meeting someone in China who's going to watch the Wrexham game is crazy. I've got a season ticket myself."

He continues to explain that the encounter was the most bizarre end to his trip in which he had been traveling across Thailand and Vietnam for 6-weeks with his friends.

The pair made it home safely, landing in London before traveling up to Wrexham to see the fantastic 3-0 win. They even met up with other fans for pre-match drinks.

The bizarre journey to get here was most certainly worth it.
