AN ATTRACTION on Llandudno's Great Orme which closed three years ago will reopen next year, the new owners have announced.

Great Orme Golf, a pitch-and-putt course, had been popular with both residents and visitors, but closed in recent years after the last tenant of the Conwy Council-owned site retired.

The five-acre course has now been taken on by Robin Hughes and Tanya Meerally, who aim to reopen the attraction in April 2025.

The pair said they were looking to "promote Welsh language" throughout the venue.

In a notice to customers, the new owners said: "We’re excited to introduce ourselves as the new business owners of Great Orme Golf—locals Robin Hughes & Tanya Meerally.

"After being closed for over three years, we’re bringing the pitch & putt back to life!

"We’ll be reopening in April 2025 with a redesigned 9-hole pitch course, a 9-hole putting green, and a clubhouse.

"Along with the improvements, we’re committed to promoting Welsh language and culture throughout the venue, making it a place that truly reflects the heritage of our community.

"There’s a lot of work to do over the next few months, but we’re dedicated to making it a place you’ll love and enjoy for years to come. Keep an eye out for updates, and we can’t wait to welcome you all soon!"

Mr Hughes added: "As a PGA Professional, I’m incredibly excited to introduce golf to people of all ages and abilities through our new pitch and putt course at Great Orme Golf.

"We aim to create a welcoming community hub where everyone can enjoy the game, regardless of experience. Tanya and I are looking forward to getting to know people from all walks of life and making this course a place for both fun and connection.

"Additionally, we're incorporating a themed Welsh history journey across the course, so visitors can learn more about our rich local heritage while enjoying the game."
