WILLIAM Aston Hall is welcoming a huge range of comedians, musicians, sporting events and authors in a jam-packed month of events.
Kicking off September is Wrexham Comedy Festival (6-15 Sep), returning for its second year.
The festival will take place across William Aston Hall and Tŷ Pawb.
Just some of the incredible acts appearing at the festival include Jen Brister, Gary Delaney, Ray Bradshaw, Reginald D Hunter, Myra DuBois, Hannah Platt, Lou Sanders and many others.
Each evening during the weekend will see a Comedy Gala with an opportunity to see multiple comedians from just £12. With over 20 events there will be something for all comedy tastes.
The comedy continues this September with visits from Simon Brodkin in his show Screwed Up (6 Sep). Join the most-watched British stand-up comedian on TikTok in his outrageous show where nothing is off limits.
See TV’s beloved Katherine Ryan with her brand-new live show, Battleaxe (19 Sep). This performance is currently sold out but do get in contact with the venue to be put on the waiting list.
And finally, Alfie Moore brings A Face For Radio (27 Sep) to William Aston Hall.
A face not so much ‘lived in’ as inhabited by a settlement of squatters with little regard to property maintenance and repair. In his 40s a surprising career shift turned middle-aged Alfie from street cop to BBC radio star. But when TV fame beckoned could he grasp it or was he past it.
There are a huge variety of toe tapping musical events to enjoy this September. Jive Talkin’ (7 Sep) is renowned as the original and very best Bee Gees tribute show. It’s an opportunity to hear all the great Bee Gees hits; Tragedy, Night Fever, Massachusetts, Stayin' Alive, Jive Talkin' and more in a two-hour explosion of music and vocal harmony.
Direct from the West End, The London Palladium, and the iconic Royal Albert Hall, Whitney – Queen of the Night (8 Sep) is a celebration of the music and life of one of the greatest singers of all time: Whitney Houston! Prepare to be blown away by an extraordinary journey through three decades of all-time hits such as I Wanna Dance With Somebody, One Moment In Time, I’m Every Woman and many more.
Carpenters Gold (20 Sep) authentically performs their Greatest hits, such as Goodbye to Love, Solitaire, We've Only Just Begun, Top of the World, Yesterday Once More, Superstar, plus many more; recreating the look and sound of their worldwide 1970 tours, including a special highlight where 'Karen' (performed by Vikki Holland-Bowyer) plays the drums with her full live backing band.
Beyond the Barricade (21 Sep), is the UK’s longest-running Musical Theatre Concert Tour and is celebrating its 25th Anniversary in 2024. Join the cast for two hours of the best of Broadway and the West End, featuring numbers from The Phantom of the Opera, Jesus Christ Superstar, West Side Story, The Lion King, Blood Brothers, Miss Saigon, Hamilton and many others, climaxing with a spectacular finale from, of course, Les Misérables!
And finally, needing no introduction, having gained millions of new followers and views following their TV appearance, Johns’ Boys (28-29 Sep) return to Wrexham to perform starring guest soloist Sara Davies.
An Evening with Shane, Lee & Hookie (16 Sep) brings three sportsmen – former international rugby players, serving Wales brilliantly along with the Lions and The Ospreys. But not just superb sportsmen – they are also the best of friends. During this evening we’ll hear all about the friendship of Shane Williams, Lee Byrne and James Hook along with the tales on and off the rugby field.
Join Ben Foster and the rest of The Fozcast team as he returns to Wrexham for an extra special live episode of The Fozcast (22 Sep) - the first one in over a year. Ben will be joined by some extra special guests to talk about his time at Wrexham and assess the start to the team’s League 1 season. The Fozcast is a Spotify exclusive podcast.

And finally, an event for crime fiction fans, An Evening With Ann Cleeves (26 Sep) bestselling crime author alongside special guest, Forensic Pathologist Prof James Grieve, as they talk about Ann’s new book Dark Wives ‘live’ on stage with TV presenter Steph McGovern. All tickets include a copy of The Dark Wives.
Also included with your ticket will be an exclusive short story – STRANDED – based on Hilbre Island off the Wirral Peninsula. This event is a joint collaboration between Linghams Bookshop in Heswall and Booka Bookshop in Oswestry.
