A glamping pod in Corwen has been crowned the most popular holiday let in North Wales by holidaycottages.co.uk.

The website has revealed the top five holiday lets in the area, having examined booking volumes from the past year.

The ranking indicated an increased preference amongst holidaymakers for unique or unusual accommodations such as a glamping pod, a converted chapel, and a vintage sailor’s lodge.

North Wales's top five most-booked holiday lets include Y Gadlas, a glamping pod in Nant Celyn, Corwen; The Lookout, a former sailor’s lodge in the South Snowdon Wharf, Porthmadog; award-winning barn conversion Nant Barns, in Carreg, Aberdovey; the 19th-century ex-chapel, Capel Neigwl, in Abersoch; and 19th-century manor Caerffynnon Hall, in Porthmadog.

Gareth Mahoney, regional director for Wales at holidaycottages.co.uk, said: "Packed with scenic landscapes, historical sites, and quirky properties, North Wales is a fantastic destination, so it’s no wonder that many holidaymakers are flocking there to enjoy all it has to offer."

He further mentioned the interesting traits sought after by holidaymakers – waterside views, rural landscapes, hot tubs, and wood burners that enhance their holiday experience.

Mr Mahoney also added: "Tourism is vitally important to North Wales and has been for a long time.

"In fact, in 2022, tourism contributed £3.8 billion to the Welsh economy and accounted for 11.8% (159,000) of employment.

"If staycations and holidaying within North Wales continue to grow at the same rate, the impact on the region will be profound."

By the details, Y Gadlas, the number one holiday let, offers fantastic valley views perfect for a romantic retreat.
