'Lost in the Dark "Gresford 1934"' is now available to listen to via Spotify and all other music platforms.

It is, as the name suggests, an ode to the colliery disaster which took place 90 years ago and claimed the lives of 266 men.

The song

Lead singer Michael Hett said: "So, this is not your average Declan Swans tune. It's a lot more serious this one, because it's something that means a lot to us."

Guitarist Mark Jones added: "It's more of an emotional song and the lyrics are really deep. Michael has been an ex-miner and the lyrics are very, very special to him."

Michael had followed in the footsteps of his Dad, Keith Hett, who was the last working miner to ascend Bersham Colliery, due to his role as an on-setter - Bersham being the last pit in Wrexham to close in 1986.

Aside from his role in the Declan Swans, Michael also volunteers at the Miners Rescue project in Wrexham, with mining still very much running through his veins.

He and the team at the miners rescue station work alongside local schools and the community where they deliver education into local mining history.

Over the weekend of September 22, the Miners Rescue project team will be hosting various remembrance events.
