North East Wales community projects have been given a funding boost of more than £400,000.

Denbigh Football Club and Brymbo Heritage Trust are among those who will benefit from the Welsh Government's support, Cabinet Secretary for Culture and Social Justice, Jane Hutt confirmed.

The funds are disbursed through the Community Facilities Programme, a capital grant scheme designed to help voluntary sector organisations in improving community facilities such as community halls and sports clubs.

Brymbo Heritage Trust will be receiving £300,000.

This will be used in restoring and refurbishing a former iron & steelworks machine shop for community use.

Meanwhile, Denbigh Town Football Club will get £95,000 to support the demolishment and rebuilding of changing rooms.

The new facilities will not only benefit the sports club, with the ground floor housing new changing rooms, but the upper floor will also be open for wider community use.
