A WREXHAM man who hurled abuse in Chester city centre on Bank Holiday Monday has been jailed.

Benjamin Roberts, 40, of no fixed abode but whose last address was in Grosvenor Road, Wrexham, pleaded guilty on Wednesday, August 28 at Chester Magistrates Court to breaching his criminal behaviour order (CBO).

Diana Przemecka, prosecuting, said the offence took place on Monday, August 26 on Eastgate Row, where Roberts was using foul, abusive and offensive language in a public place.

That put him in breach of a CBO imposed by North West Wales Magistrates Court on January 23, 2023.

Magistrates heard it was the fourth time the defendant had breached his CBO, and noted Roberts had previous convictions.

Taking into account the offence would have also caused distress, they imposed an immediate 16-week prison term.
