AS the Paralympics get underway in Paris, two Flintshire athletes are preparing to represent Great Britain.
The 2024 games began in the French capital on Wednesday (August 28) and there are 22 Welsh athletes set to compete over the next few weeks.
Deeside AAC’s Sabrina Fortune, the world record holder, will be competing in the F20 shot put.
The 27-year-old from Mold broke the world record twice en route to winning her third World title earlier this year.
After claiming Bronze in Rio and finishing fifth in Tokyo, could this be the year the world record holder gets Gold.
The F20 shot put takes place on Sunday, September 1.

Joining Sabrina in the squad is Connah’s Quay’s Rhys Darbey, a world championship silver medalist.
The Nofio Clwyd swimmer will be racing in the S14 200m individual medley in his debut Paralympics.
The 17-year-old from Flint is the youngest Welsh athlete at the games, having turned 17 in June.
He claimed a silver medal at the World Championships last year and will be hoping for a medal in Paris.
The men's SM14 200m individual medley event takes place on Wednesday, September 4.
