A MAN is to be sentenced after he admitted harassing his ex-partner.

Adam Weale, of Pont Yr Afon in Penycae, appeared at Wrexham Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

The 31-year-old admitted that over a number of days in June this year, he harassed Katie Louise Hampshire at Llandudno.

Prosecutor Justin Espie told the court that the victim had been in a relationship with Weale, but that had ended in 2021 due to the defendant "going on drink and drug binges."

They had a working arrangement to facilitate Weale seeing his children - and he was due to do that in June, but cancelled.

He then asked to stay the night at Ms Hampshire's property a few days later - which she said he could, if he paid money he owed her.

Weale told the victim he had a key to her property and warned her not to "wind him up."

He then made a number of intimidating remarks, including: "I'll see you at yours with the lads from town.

"I ain't scared of that jail lol. That's the last thing you'll do - grass on these, your life will be ended."

Ms Hampshire told Weale she'd contacted the police, following which things calmed down and they had a 'civil' conversation via email.

Weale again asked to stay at the victim's property, but she refused.

She had 23 missed calls on her WhatsApp messenger, with the defendant telling her not to contact the police.

He eventually handed himself in to police and despite Ms Hampshire telling him she wanted no more contact, he called her and continued to like a number of her posts on Facebook, which caused her upset.

Gary Harvey, defending, told the court that the victim wanted the defendant to "get help with his alcohol."

He said: "There were initially other charges, but the CPS took the view they were empty threats, regarding threats to kill.

"This was a short duration in terms of the harassment.

"He hails from Plas Madoc and is about to start work in a local hotel.

"There is no objection to a restraining order."

The court opted to adjourn the sentence to September 17 for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.
