Wrexham County Borough Council will enforce a temporary traffic restriction on the A528 Grange Road in Overton from September 10.
The carriageway resurfacing project, set to be carried out by Lewis & Hunter, will see the road closed from its north-westerly junction with the B5069 to the Knolton Bryn junction, in a southerly direction for a distance of 1.5km.
An alternative route via A528, Overton, A539 via Penley, A525 Eglwys Cross, Redbrook Maelor, A495 Ellesmere Road via Bronington, Welshhampton and Ellesmere and A528 Grange Road is available and will be signposted.
While pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the period of closure, the road closure is anticipated to last for 15 working days or until the works are finished if earlier.
The council, however, reserves the extension up to 18 months subject to circumstances.
