THE Met Office are predicting a very mixed weekend of weather in Wrexham and Flintshire this bank holiday. 

The weather experts are forecasting a range of conditions, with strong winds, showers, clouds and some sunny spells. 

Today (August 23) looks set to be the clearest day of the weekend, with sunny and cloudy spells and highs of 19C. 

There's set to be heavy showers on Saturday, with highs of 18C and strong winds of up to 35mph. 

Sunday will be a mix of light showers and sunny spells, with temperatures reaching 18C, again there will be strong winds with gusts up to 42mph. 

Sunny and cloudy spells will dominate Monday, with temperatures reaching a high of 20C.

A spokesperson for the Met Office said: "Today: Very windy start as Storm Lilian brings gales. Conditions gradually easing, though still breezy in the afternoon with sunny spells. Rather cool overall, but more pleasant if sheltered from the afternoon breeze. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

"Tonight: Largely dry evening with late sunny spells. Cloud building overnight with showers. Minimum temperature 9 °C.

"Saturday: Rather cloudy morning with showers, heavy at times. Sunnier spells developing into the afternoon. Feeling rather cool with a notable breeze. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

"Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday: Cool and breezy throughout the bank holiday weekend with sunnier spells and occasional showers, chiefly over the hills. Turning a little warmer on Tuesday but with further patchy rain possible."
