A popular family-run garden centre has opened its doors on a new site in Chester.
The independently run Okells Garden Centre, located off the A51 Tarporley Road between Tarvin and Tarporley, has opened a second site in Hoole.
This week the business opened at the Chester Co-operative Society building on the corner of Walker Street, which had been vacant for some years since it had been home to the Co-operative food shop and adjoining Funeralcare business.
Okells, which has been trading since 1982, posted on its Instagram page: "Hello Hoole, we’re open.
"Today we opened the doors to our new shop for the first time. We’re far from being a new business, but this is the newest, most nerve-wracking, and exciting project we’ve done in a long time.
"When we first came across this building - a closed down co-op with over 100 years of history - we felt it deserved a new chapter. We owe a huge thank you to everyone who has been involved in bringing this space back to life."
The new shop in Chester will feature houseplants, homewares and gifts, and coffee and bakes, with a full kitchen menu to come soon.
Okells added: "In the months leading up to today we’ve had a rush of support and excitement which is very reassuring and massively motivating.
"We couldn’t be more excited to bring our family-run garden centre to such a busy community of brilliant neighbours and so many amazing independent businesses.
"Thank you to everyone who has stopped by to have a look and say hello, and to everyone who has messaged us, spread the word to friends and applied to work with us."
The new Chester garden centre is open every day from 9am-5pm.
