THE MET Office has named Storm Lilian as strong winds and heavy rain hits the north region.

Natural Resources Wales has further issued a flood alert for 14-catchment across the Welsh coastline, including Conwy where rainfall is affecting the area.

River Levels are above normal levels. A spokesperson said: "We will continue to monitor the situation."

Friday (August 23) will see a very windy start across north Wales as Storm Lilian brings gales around coasts and hills.

Conditions will ease gradually throughout the day, still breezy in the afternoon with sunny spells.

Temperatures will be rather cool overall with a maximum of 19C, but more pleasant if sheltered from the breeze.

This evening, it will be largely dry with late sunny spells. Cloud is expected to build overnight with showers and more persistent rain in the southeast. Minimum temperature tonight will be 9C.

A spokesperson has confirmed the outlook for the weekend.

For Saturday, they said: "Rather cloudy morning with showers, heavy at times, and longer periods of rain in the far southeast. Sunnier spells developing into the afternoon. Feeling rather cool with a notable breeze. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

"Cool and breezy throughout the bank holiday weekend with sunnier spells and occasional showers, chiefly over the hills. Turning a little warmer on Tuesday but with further patchy rain possible."
