FLINTSHIRE students collected their GCSE results today (Thursday August, 22) to find out how well they did after all their studying and hard work.
Despite the top grades across Wales dropping slightly, over six in ten students achieved the gold standard A*-C grades with an overall 96.6% pass rate.

Results are back to pre-pandemic levels, like A Level results last week. 19.2% of pupils received A* or A grades compared to 21.7% in 2023.
However, students across Flintshire have been celebrating as the hard work has paid off and the anticipation is finally over.
A spokesperson from Flintshire County Council said: "No matter what your results say, you have a bright future ahead. Celebrate today and best of luck with your next steps."

Elfed High School
Mrs Leanne Eyre, Deputy Headteacher, said: “Year 11, 2024 have been an outstanding cohort. Their results today reflect their hard work, commitment and resilience.
"Sometimes we forget the level of challenge this year group has had to deal with as a result of the pandemic and this makes their achievements today even more impressive.
"They will be greatly missed by their teachers. We have had a brilliant morning in school: full of smiles, hugs and happy tears"
A huge congratulations to the school's highest achievers who have secured the top grades: Oscar Taylor, Marcel Bankski, Ash Cooper, Daisy Drew, Atalia Molico-Franco, Haf Peers Buxton and Elizabeth Rush.
Hawarden High School
This year has seen a significant number of students attaining higher-grade GCSE passes, a reflection of their hard work and determination.
Headteacher, Mr Simon Budgen, commended the students for their dedication, particularly in light of the unique challenges they have encountered during their education. He said: "Our students have shown remarkable perseverance and commitment, and they should be extremely proud of their results.
"It is especially pleasing to see 80% of students achieving the gold standard of five GCSEs at Grades A*-C, with over half of all grades awarded being A*, A, or B."
Mr. Budgen also expressed his deep appreciation for the hard work of the teaching and support staff, whose dedication has been crucial in guiding the students to these successes.
He also acknowledged the invaluable support from parents and the wider community, which has played a significant role in helping the students reach their full potential.
Notable successes go to; Ruby Wall (10A*, 1A), Dylan Smallwood (8A*, 4A), Izabelle Humphreys (8A*, 2A, 1B), Reuben Marzal (7A*, 3A), Emily Williams (6A*, 5A, 1B), Callum Hodgson (6A*, 1A, 2B, 2C), Daniel Altman (5A*, 4A, 2B), and Ben Bate (5A*, 3A, 3B).
Maes Garmon
Year 11 learners are celebrating their fabulous GCSE results at Ysgol Maes Garmon.
Mrs Bronwen Hughes, Headteacher said: I'm so pleased for this group of year 11 students. It has been a pleasure to see them grow and mature into young people having faced a turbulent start to their school careers due to Covid.
"They have shown resilience and committed to their studies to achieve fabulous results. I'd like to thank the staff for their hard work and unwavering support in making sure these learners had every opportunity to shine.
Miss Elin Hughes, Head of Year 11 added: "It has been my pleasure to guide this lovely group of students through their school career. Seeing them here today celebrating their results is the icing on the cake.
"There are so many success stories in this group, and I know they have bright futures ahead of them."
Ysgol Treffynnon
John Weir, headteacher, said: “Despite the significant challenges posed by the pandemic during their crucial early years, our students have shown remarkable resilience and determination, and their hard work has truly paid off with these outstanding results; we congratulate them all.
“I am delighted that the number of 5 or more A*/A grades has increased once again this year. We are immensely proud of the dedication and commitment of all our staff, who have gone above and beyond to support our students through these unprecedented times.
Mr Weir and staff would like to extend special congratulations to the following top-achieving students: Vanessa Poppa: 10 A*/A grades and 4 B grades, Abigail Frost: 10 A*/A grades and 4 B grades, Isabelle Hayes: 8 A*/A grades and 5 B grades, Calin Pellicci: 6 A*/A grades and 4 B grades and James Evans: 6 A*/A grades and 3 B grades.

St. David's, Saltney
Headteacher, Steven Richardson, said: "I am incredibly proud of each and every one of our students. Their success is a testament to their hard work, determination, and the unwavering support from our dedicated staff and their families."
In addition to academic success, St David’s continues to foster a holistic approach to education, ensuring that students develop essential life skills alongside their academic achievements.
Notable GCSE achievements this year include: Poppy Schofield - 9 A Star to A, 7 B, James Bell - 6 A Star to A, 9 B, Nicola Prince - 5 A Star to A, 12 B, and Katie Hart - 4 A Star to A, 12 B.
This year's results reflect the school's commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals who are prepared for the next stage of their education and future careers.
Castell Alun
Castell Alun students scored the highly coveted 5 or more A* and A grades, a figure which would be mouth-watering in any year.
Emlyn Phoenix now counts an incredible 12 A*s to his name, indeed scoring maximum grades in each of his academic subjects.
Dylan Club-Troy and Olivia Gregory both scooped a whopping haul of 10 A* grades plus other A grades.
Angus Graham, Lucy Beckett and Louie Church produced a wonderful haul of 8A*s, with these students also gaining a large number of further A grades.
Colin Ellis, Headteacher, said: "Congratulations to all our students, and a big thank you to our staff for their dedication and commitment, as well as to parents, the local community and our primary schools for their support.

Argoed High School
Paul Smith, headteacher, said: “We are incredibly proud of the achievements of all our GCSE students, and our year 10 students who have also secured some fantastic results which bodes well for a successful time next year.
“Although in the past now, these students’ school years were still impacted by the pandemic, and they should be commended on their resilience to overcome this disruption and complete their examinations
successfully this year."
Several individuals have achieved excellent results including Henry Eagleton who achieved an impressive 10A* grades, Cerys Devlin 6A*, 3A grades, Ella Titcombe 4 A*, 6 A grades, Kade Fletcher 3A*, 5 A grades, Jessie Astbury 2A*, 5A grades, Archie Jones-Griffin 2A*, 4A.
Flint High School
GCSE morning has been a busy time for staff at Flint High School making sure that every single student receives the correct support with their GCSE results. Every single student has had advice and guidance on the next steps, with many students choosing to continue with their education at Flint High School.
This year Flint High School has seen the best results for their top performing students. The top performers are:
Marta Kosek 12A*/A, Asha Stevens 10A*/A, Jack Vincent 9A*/A, Hari Davies 8A*/A, Ashley Kerr 7A*/A, and Liam Bradley 7A*/A.
Alli Jamieson, Deputy Headteacher, said: “I would like to congratulate our students on their examination results.
"They have been a fantastic year group and have contributed so much to our school community. These outcomes are a reflection of their hard work, and they are very well deserved.”
Alun School, Mold
The top 9 students each achieved over 700 points, with almost 20 pupils achieving 10 or more A*/A.
Jane Cooper, Headteacher, Alun School, said: “Pupils at the Alun continue to thrive and achieve excellent results and this is yet again demonstrated this year with students achieving excellent results which will be a launch to their future success.
"We look forward to welcoming back the majority of our students to join our sixth form and continue their academic careers with us, for those leaving the Alun we wish them well as they continue their education or enter the workforce.”
Connah's Quay High School
The top students were Kristupas Kirklys 7 A*'s, 1 A, Medhasree Chiluvuri with 6 A*'s, 2 A's, 1 B, Jack Foster with 6 A*'s, 2 A's, 1 B, Charli Pipe with 4 A*'s, 5 A's and Mia Booth with 5 A*'s, 4 A's.

Headteacher, James Forber said: "We are incredibly proud of our learners’ success this year, with improved A*-C pass rates across all core subjects, our best-ever results in Science, and significant improvements in Maths.
"The fact that so many of our learners met or exceeded their target grades is a testament to their hard work and the dedication of our teaching staff, supported by families.
"These results highlight the strength of our school community and our commitment to supporting every learner’s journey to success."
St Richard Gwyn Catholic High School in Flint
Posting on social media, a spokesperson said: “Well done to all our students collecting results today. We're so proud of you!!
“Sincere thanks to our staff, governors, our families and all our support services at Flintshire Council and Careers Wales.
