A LEADING UK-based logistics solutions company is closing its north Wales branch with just under 50 jobs at risk.

Previously operating as Ningbo Wrexham until June this year, the company has been a part of Palletline Logistics since it was bought in 2022.

However, earlier this week employees were informed of the company's decision to close the Wrexham branch situated at Wrexham Industrial Estate. North Wales postcodes will be allocated to other Palletline members as a result.

There are 48 jobs at risk in the area with an exact closing date yet to be confirmed by the company, despite an unconfirmed estimation of September 20 from 'Trucks Around North Wales'

A Palletline spokesperson said: "The Palletline Group has made the decision to close its Palletline Logistics Wrexham operation, reassigning its postcode coverage area to existing network members. The group’s strategy for its Palletline Logistics businesses is to return its operations to member control where appropriate.

“To that extent, we have collaborated with four existing members to realign delivery areas, ensuring sure full network coverage, whilst supporting their strategic growth plans and eliminating continuing on-going losses at Palletline Wrexham.

“The Palletline team are working closely with network members in the region to secure alternative employment opportunities where possible for those affected by the closure.”

A spokesperson for the Facebook group, Loris Y Gogs/Trucks Around North Wales has described the news as a "devastating blow" for all hardworking employees at the haulage industry.

They said: "This is absolutely devastating for the lads and girls who have been part of the loyal, hard working team at Palletline and I can’t even begin to imagine how hard this must be for you all. Both of us running Loris Y Gogs will do EVERYTHING in our power to help find you all work.

"All the staff are extremely hard working, experienced and have been very loyal to the company and they deserve so much better than this. I’m sure we can all come together and help as much as we can.

"This just goes to show the pressure that haulage/transport companies are under to be sustainable and how fast things can change."
