A firearms officer was called upon to put down an injured cow following a Wrexham collision, it has been confirmed.
The Leader reported on Thursday how police blocked the A539 Llangollen Road, Acrefair, following a collision.
It was confirmed at the time by North Wales Police that the collision involved a car and livestock - and there were witness accounts of an armed response team being present.

The force has since explained why armed officers were called to the scene.
A spokesman said: "Following a collision between a cow and a vehicle, the cow suffered significant injuries which resulted in the animal suffering.
"Due to those injuries, it was deemed the most humane course of action was to put the animal down in a timely fashion, which was undertaken by specially trained firearms officers, who were dispatched to the scene due to the non-availability of veterinary surgeons in the locality."
