WREXHAM Council are appealing to parents following recent reports of children throwing stones at swans at a local park.
The local authority say they have received recent reports of children throwing stones and causing distress to the swans that are currently at Stryt Las Park, near Johnstown.
The council have informed the police and are asking parents to ensure their children are not involved.
Cllr David A Bithell, Deputy Leader of the Council and local member for the area, said, “The swans are always a welcome sight in the park but recently there’s been incidences of children throwing stones and generally causing distress to the birds.

“I’d like to remind everyone that swans are protected, as are all birds in the UK.
”Parents, please make your children aware of this and of the pleasure that the swans bring to visitors to the area.
“The matter has been reported to the local policing team and any further incidences will be investigated by them.”
