SHOPKEEPERS in Flintshire are being urged not to sell eggs to youths following a spate of anti-social behaviour (ASB) incidents.

North Wales Police have issued the plea amid also increasing patrols in the county in order to try and deter such behaviour.

Earlier this week, officers raised concerns over incidents which took place in both Buckley and Mold.

They say they received reports of youths throwing eggs at homes, leaving residents 'upset'.

Officers added that anyone caught doing this would be 'dealt with robustly'.

Now, they have issued a follow up statement, urging both shopkeepers and parents to be vigilant.

North Wales Police say they are determined to 'put a stop to this behaviour'.

The NWP South Flintshire team said: "You may have seen our post on Wednesday about ASB in several areas in both Buckley and Mold.

"Please be assured that patrols have been increased in these areas, and we are committed to putting a stop to this kind of behaviour.

"Summer holidays can be a ‘pinch point’ for ASB with young people looking for ways to ‘entertain’ themselves but that should never be at the cost of someone else’s quality of life.

"Egging someone’s door can be recorded as criminal damage, so it’s no laughing matter. I’d ask local store staff not to sell eggs to groups of youths, and parents to keep an eye on eggs going ‘missing’ from home.

"There are a number of free Summer Playschemes running across the Flintshire South area up until the end of August, giving kids an opportunity to burn off energy in the right way."
