A POLICE officer has been sacked after being found guilty of gross misconduct following incidents in the Flintshire area.
Following a misconduct hearing recently held at North Wales Police Headquarters this week, former constable 3352 Owain Lewis has dismissed from the force with immediate effect.
The former PC faced an allegation that on December 16, 2022, he was off duty when he attended at an address in the Buckley area. Whilst at the property he was responsible for an act of violence towards property which resulted in the damage of a mobile phone. This took place in a domestic setting.
It was subsequently found that Lewis breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour relating to Discreditable Conduct.
In addition to being dismissed without notice, he will also be placed on the barred list preventing him from serving as a police officer at any point in the future.
Speaking at the conclusion of the hearing, Deputy Chief Constable Nigel Harrison said: "We expect the highest of standards and professionalism from all our police officers and police staff when both on and off duty. Former PC Lewis’ actions were inappropriate, unprofessional, and totally unacceptable.
"This type of conduct seriously undermines trust and confidence in policing. North Wales Police take all reports of domestic abuse and violence against women and girls seriously. The position of North Wales Police is to robustly investigate all matters to ensure public confidence is maintained, which is evidenced by this outcome."
He added: "We would encourage anyone with concerns of this nature to speak to us - you are not alone; you will be listened to, and your experiences will be taken extremely seriously."
