HAWARDEN High School were thrilled to announce another year of outstanding achievement in A-level, AS-level, and BTEC examinations.

Half of all grades awarded were either A*, A or B and very many students have secured their first choice of course at University.

Students picked up their results at the Flintshire school on Thursday (August 15), achieving "remarkable" results. 

Reflecting on this year's results, Mrs. Izzi Birch, Assistant Headteacher and Head of Sixth Form, said: "I am immensely proud of our students' remarkable accomplishments in their A-levels this year.

"Their perseverance and commitment, especially in navigating through challenging circumstances throughout their education, are truly commendable. These results not only showcase their hard work but also highlight the unwavering dedication of our staff and the continuous support from their families."

Mrs. Birch extended her heartfelt congratulations to all students, wishing them every success in their future endeavours.

She added: "It is wonderful to see so many students securing places at their chosen universities and workplaces, embarking on a diverse range of courses and careers. We eagerly anticipate hearing about their continued achievements in the years to come."

Some of the top performers from Hawarden High School were:

  • Callum Evans has achieved a phenomenal A*AAAA in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, Design & Technology and Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate and will study Financial Mathematics at the University of Nottingham
  • Lily Lochhead will fulfil her dream of studying medicine at Keele University after successfully achieving A*A*AA in Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate
  • Katy Ellis has secured a brilliant A*A*AB in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Design & Technology and Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate and will study Mathematics at Lancaster University
  • Erin Fordwhalley has secured her place at University of Manchester to read medicine after achieving an amazing A*A*AB in Chemistry, Physics, Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate and Mathematics
  • Rowan Foster has done incredibly in attaining A*AAA in Geography, Mathematics, Chemistry and Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate and will study Environmental Science at Lancaster University
  • Head Student, Annie Small, who has achieved A*AAB in Physical Education, Mathematics, Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate and Biology, goes to the USA to study following her successful scholarship application!
  • Lili Coppack will study mathematics and philosophy at the University of Leeds following her attaining A*AAB in Sociology, Mathematics, Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate and History
  • Hannah Brambles has achieved an outstanding AAAA in Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate and will now study Chemistry with a year in industry at the University of Bristol
  • Milly West will read History at the University of Edinburgh following her hard work in securing an AAAA in Chemistry, History, English Literature and Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate
  • Katy Anglesea has been accepted onto the PWC sponsored accounting degree at the University of Nottingham after achieving AAAB in Mathematics, Business, Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate and Chemistry
  • Elinor Travis will study Pharmacy at Cardiff University after attaining AAAB in Biology, Mathematics, Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate and Chemistry
  • Kamil Czerepak secured a Degree Apprenticeship in Digital Solutions at Airbus after achieving AABC in Mathematics, Design & Technology, Computer Science and Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate
