THE DATE for the funeral service of one of Wrexham AFC's most well-loved and recognisable fans has been announced.

Lifelong Reds fan Arthur Massey died aged 100 years old on Thursday (August 8).

Fans of the club will recognise him for featuring in the docuseries 'Welcome to Wrexham' alongside daughters Jacqui Valentine and Julie Birrell.

In March of this year, Mr Massey was presented with a framed shirt with the number '100' on by Wrexham AFC to celebrate his 100th birthday and his loyalty to the club.

As well as being a loyal Wrexham fan, Mr Massey had been a dedicated volunteer for the Royal British Legion's annual poppy appeal.

He was also a distinguished Second World War veteran, serving as a sapper in the Burma Campaign in South East Asia.
