THE RAIN did not put swathes of people off turning out at an annual carnival in Wrexham on Saturday (August 10).
The Wauns Carnival, based at Bradley Fields, was held from 11am to 6pm, and involved dinosaur and dog shows, donkey rides, falconry displays, Morris dancing, live wrestling and more.
There was also the opportunity to meet two friendly alpacas Reggie and Ronnie, enjoy judo displays, and sit in a variety of classic cars courtesy of North West Kit Car Owners Group.
Music and entertainment throughout the carnival was provided by Martyn & Kita's Children's Entertainment; Abstract Fabulous Pop & Rock Band; Olly, a 10-year-old rock guitarist, The Swillers, and Adam Condren.
There was also a funfair with plenty of rides for thrill-seekers to face, and more than 50 stalls for people to browse.
Among these stalls was Your Space, an autism charity appealing for volunteers after the loss of its lottery funding has left the Wrexham-based organisation "really struggling", and Ark Angels Animal Rescue.
Gwersyllt Community Council sponsored 30 picnic benches for the comfort of residents to enjoy, while the event was put on by a team of volunteers, and was free to attend.
