THE Maesgwyn Youth Club is reopening to the public today (August 9) on a trial basis following a dip in attendance during Covid-19 times.
After taking over the premises in 2009 with funding from Offa Community Council, the Caia Park Partnership Youth Team has spoken to parents and young people in the Wrexham area with many showing an interest in the club continuing.
It previously ran with excellent attendance but numbers sadly dropped during Covid times and has been shut ever-since.
Now open from 4pm until 6pm on Fridays, there will be a PS5, pool table, games, a cook and eat session, and various other activities and entertainment.
Children must be a minimum of 8-years-old to attend and no older than 18. Anyone 16+ will be encouraged to become a youth leader.
Jonathan Stumpp, senior manager for Caia Park Partnership Team, said: "The next few weeks will be crucial in planning how the club looks moving forward, including the best times and days to open, what activities should be on offer, what equipment should be there and so on.
"We will spend the next few weeks talking to the young people that do access the club, and also continue to do some Detached Youth Work in the area on some evenings to see whether the time/day slot allocated is the best one."
The Youth Team provides a range of services and activities for young people, aged between 8 – 25. The team aims to provide a welcoming environment where young people can develop and achieve their potential.

In addition, throughout August as part of Caia Park Partnership's work with Offa CC, they will be undertaking consultation work on Bellevue Park every Thursday between 4.30-6:30pm to ascertain whether local young people would benefit from them opening a Youth Club on Bellevue Park itself, in the Parciau Community Centre.
The Youth Team sets up a gazebo each week for a couple of hours with some light refreshments and small games to engage with local young people. If there is enough interest in the Youth Club, Caia Park
Partnership would look at opening it from September time.
