A WREXHAM woman has opened a mini cake shop in a shed outside her home.

Emily Francis-Headon, from New Broughton, lauched The Curious Cakery earlier this year. She makes all the products from her kitchen, and has renovated an old caravan which she takes to events to sell her cakes.

Now, the has opened The Cake Shed - based inside a shed which is situated outside her home on Gatewen Road.

People can help themselves to items, and there is an honesty box and Paypal account that can be paid into.

Emily said: "I’s always been my dream to open a little cake shop, but I knew I’d never have the capital to make it reality. One day, my wife, Jayne, spotted a run-down old caravan on Facebook marketplace, and suddenly it felt like maybe that dream could get a little bit closer.

"We travelled to Yorkshire to collect the van and it was an adventure to say the least. It needed so much work doing on it. Jayne totally renovated the van and custom built the interior for all my cake selling needs.

"We have been to a few events this summer and the reaction has been fantastic."

Talking about the latest venture, Emily said: "After events and cake experimentation, there is always leftover cake to be eaten, which is where my lovely neighbours and village community come in.

"I can often be found with a box full of cakes, going door to door to donate to willing eaters at the end of an event."

She added: "I am so excited to see the Cake Shed opening today (Wednesday, August 7). There’s something magical about homemade cakes and goodies.

"It can turn fully grown adults into children again and brighten the rainiest of days, and that’s why I love baking and sharing it with others.

"Cake always brings a smile, and I want to spread that feeling out into the wider community of Wrexham, which is why we (well, Jayne) have built the Cake Shed."
