A HUGE number of fans could witness Wrexham's first season in League One in almost 20 years.

Following back-to-back promotions, the Reds will return to the third tier of English Football when they host Wycombe Wanderers at the SToK Cae Ras on Saturday evening.

A total of 299,810 fans went through the gates at the Racecourse over the course of last season.

The average attendance was increased significantly following the introduction of the temporary kop just before Christmas.

For the second half of the season, the Reds averaged a crowd of around 12,400 at each home game, with Wrexham falling just short of 300,000 attending.

However, following the news that the temporary stand has been increased to hold 3,000 - an extra 800 fans per game, it's hard not to imagine the Reds breaking the 300,000 barrier this season.

If Wrexham averaged a home attendance of 13,000, over the course of the 23 league games that would equate to 299,000 fans through the gate.

Add in the EFL Trophy, the possibility of a home tie in the FA Cup and the chance of a home tie in the Carabao Cup if they beat Sheffield United at Bramall Lane next week, then the Reds could well be on their way to 350,000.

Based off last season, if Wrexham averaged 13,000 at home, it would be the sixth best in the competition.

It would also be more than one Championship team from last season and two Premier League sides.

Even with the Reds likely to be on television a lot more this season, the Racecourse will still be rocking every time there is a game on.
