THE MET Office has confirmed a mixture of bright sunny spells and thick cloud for the weekend ahead.
Today (Friday, August 2) will start fine and dry with sunny spells.
Cloud will build more widely across the north East with outbreaks of rain expected this late afternoon. It will feel slightly cooler than yesterday, but still warm with temperatures reaching 24C.

It will be cloudy through this evening with outbreaks of rain moving eastwards overnight, soon clearing by dawn to leave a fresher feel for all. Minimum temperature 11 °C.
Tomorrow (August 3) will see any remaining rain in the east soon clearing to leave a fine day with bright or sunny spells.

It may feel slightly fresher with light winds. Maximum temperature 21 °C.
A spokesperson has confirmed the outlook for Sunday to Tuesday. They said: "Largely dry on Sunday with bright or sunny spells.
"Cloudier on Monday with some outbreaks of rain possible and brisk winds. Rain clearing on Tuesday. Feeling warm and humid."
