A SECTION of Crispin Lane will be closed to vehicles before and after Wrexham AFC home matches.

Wrexham Council has issued a notice stating that the road will be closed from its junction with the Mold Road, in a northerly direction for a distance of 320 metres for two hours before and two hours after each Wrexham AFC home game.

The alternative route for vehicles affected by the closure is via Stansty Road,
Plas Coch Road and Mold Road, which will be signposted accordingly.

Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the period of the closure.

Crispin Lane is where many Wrexham AFC fans park their cars on matchdays, but the section which will be closed is covered by double yellow lines. However, it is used as an access road by motorists before and after games.

Attendances at STōK Cae Ras are now regularly around the 12,500 mark, and The Red Dragons' popularity has led to chaos on surrounding streets, with some fans reportedly blocking residents' drives and parking on double yellow lines.

Wrexham Council has approved plans to use the car park of the council's housing depot site on Ruthin Road for matchday parking.

The site on Ruthin Road in Wrexham has 135 spaces and it's hoped the proposals will ease the situation as the club prepares for its first season in League One since 2005.

In a separate notice, the council has stated that Mold Road will continue to be closed from Plas Coch roundabout for 788 metres for one hour after each home game - which has been an existing arrangement in recent years.
