WREXHAM residents have been encouraged to report instances of dog fouling in order to help enforcement officers target 'hot spot areas.'

According to data compiled by canine supplement company Vitasure, between March 2023 and March 2024, Wrexham Council received a total of 235 complaints about dog fouling in public areas.

The data states one fixed penalty notice was issued for dog fouling during that time period.

A Wrexham Council spokesman said: "The majority of dog owners are responsible and pick up after their dog has fouled but there are still a few irresponsible individuals who prefer to leave it where it is.

"This is an offence and can harm individuals and wildlife.

"We would encourage everyone who witnesses this happening to report it so we can target hot spot areas for proactive patrols.

"Please report offences via email to contact-us@wrexham.gov.uk, online at www.wrexham.gov.uk/english/online/index.htm.

"The ability and process to enable a Fixed Penalty Notice to be issued is set out in legislation and officers act on this when considering each report made."
