A WOMAN was found to be more than twice the alcohol limit after she collided with the rear of another vehicle.

Somina Samoila, of The Meadows in Gwersyllt, appeared at Wrexham Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

The 33-year-old admitted one offence of drink-driving, which took place at Mold Road in Wrexham on July 13 this year.

Prosecutor Justin Espie told the court that at around 7pm on that day, the defendant's Skoda vehicle collided with the rear of another vehicle.

When she was breath tested, it was revealed that she had 72 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath - the limit being 35.

Mr Espie told the court the defendant had no previous convictions.

Stephen Edwards, defending, told the court his client as "very sorry and ashamed" of the offences.

"No one was injured," he continued.

"I ask for credit for her timely guilty plea.

"She came to the UK in 2013 and has been employed continuously during that period."

District Judge Gwyn Jones told the defendant: "The main aggravating feature is that there as a collision.

"I have to balance that with the fact you're a person of good character who has been working well whilst in the UK for a number of years.

The Leader:

"It is clear you're extremely well regarded by those you work with and that you very much regret what happened on the day in question."

The Judge handed down a £200 fine and banned the defendant from driving for 20 months.

Samoila must also pay £85 costs and an £80 victim surcharge.
