A CAMEO from Wrexham AFC striker Paul Mullin in the new Marvel Deadpool & Wolverine film has skyrocketed online searches for Wrexham.

Experts at KingCasinoBonus have analysed data from Google trends to reveal a 5,028% increase in searches for “Wrexham” on July 25.

This statistic is 51-times the usual search volume, the same day that Deadpool & Wolverine came out in the UK.

Wrexham AFC, owned by Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds, sparked interest in football aficionados all over the world as they spotted two unexpected cameos - Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney as a TVA soldier and, even more surprisingly, Wrexham striker Paul Mullin as 'Welshpool'.

Mullin was among the army of Deadpool variants in the finale of Deadpool & Wolverine.

While the character looks the same as most other Deadpool variants, he has a giant Welsh flag painted across his chest.

A spokesperson for KingCasinoBonus commented on the findings: “For years now new Marvel movies have been highly anticipated, bringing fans' focus not only on the characters but also on the cast.

“In the case of Deadpool & Wolverine, the anticipation was perhaps even higher, as these are characters that fans know and love and that they’ve been waiting to see on the big screen again since 2018 and 2017, respectively when Deadpool 2 and Logan were released.

“On top of all this, the movie was especially praised for the great number of cameos that were revealed, and while some of them might’ve been surprising yet understandable, Mullin’s was surely an unexpected yet welcomed one, as it brought home a lot of interest for the striker’s team.”

Yesterday (July 29), Ryan Reynolds shared images of the pair behind the scenes, featuring Mullin dressed in his Welshpool costume.

The brief scenes were a fantastic tribute to the north Wales football club.
