A TOP POLICE DOG (PD) helped sniff out a man who had fled from police in Wrexham.
PD Vega is part of the Cheshire and North Wales Police Dogs Unit which provides general purpose, firearms support and specialist search dogs.
These furry friends support officers' ranging policing activities – from tackling serious and organised crime to helping bring vulnerable people back to a place of safety.
And on Monday (July 29), it was the turn of PD Vega to spring into action.
She assisted in the arrest of a male who had fled from police earlier that day in the Wrexham Rural area.
Within 45 minutes, Vega had tracked the man down and he was arrested for dangerous driving, drug driving and failing to stop for police.

Police Community Support Officer Enya Bellis-Jones said: "A big thank you to PD Vega who today assisted in the arrest of a male in Wrexham Rural, the male had made off from officers earlier on in the day following a routine traffic stop.
"PD Vega managed to get a track on the males last known location some 45 minutes after he made off from officers.
"The male sensibly gave himself up whilst Vega was tracking him to prevent any unnecessary injury to himself!
"The male was subsequently arrested for dangerous driving, drug driving and failing to stop for police."
PD Vega has only been in operational duty since last month, but has already had a busy July.
Earlier this month, he helped officers track down three men who were acting suspiciously in Connah's Quay.
They had been on top of the new Lidl, armed with tools for stripping copper wire.
Looks like the streets of north Wales might be a little safer at least with this pup around!
