A TEAM of volunteers helped to find and rescue an elderly man from a hillfort in Flintshire.

North East Wales Search and Rescue (NEWSAR) has released details of the incident which occurred on Sunday night.

A spokesperson said: "On Sunday evening, @northwalespolice requested our assistance with an elderly gentleman on Penycloddiau.

"His exact location was not known, so while we had multiple team members out searching on foot, we requested air support.

"National Police Air Service located the gentleman, but our search technique on the ground would have brought us to the casualty within the following 5-10 minutes.
