WREXHAM AFC'S star owners are reportedly eyeing up another sports team to invest in.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have taken the Reds on an incredible journey since taking over as co-chairmen of the club in February 2021.

They have enjoyed back-to-back promotions and have even enjoyed documentary success thanks to Welcome to Wrexham.

But, if reports are to be believed, then the much-loved duo's next venture could very well be within the world of another sport entirely.

The Telegraph has reported that the pair could be interested in The Hundred investment.

The cricket tournament returns for a fourth season on Tuesday, with eight teams having both men's and women's sides competing.

Rob and Ryan are reportedly interested in making an investment in the Welsh Fire cricket team, with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) keen to have them attend a game to 'further assess the situation'.

The Telegraph reports that the England and Wales Cricket Board [ECB] will commence auctioning for stakes in the teams from September.

Manchester United majority owners the Glazer family are also reportedly in contention for investment too.

The reports come as the ECB is looking to sell a 49 per cent share of each of the eight Hundred teams to private investors, with owners of US sports franchises and Indian Premier League sides being targeted.

It is estimated that owning half the team would cost around £20m.

The 2024 edition of The Hundred sees the Oval Invincibles and Southern Brave arrive as the men's and women's reigning champions.

But, fear not Wrexham fans - any investment likely wouldn't mean that Rob and Ryan are turning their backs on the club - or the beautiful game - just yet!
