INDEPENDENT Retailer Month is a global 'shop local' campaign that runs through the month of July.
The campaign is all about embracing the charm and authenticity that comes from shopping at locally owned and independently run businesses.
There are so many fantastic examples across Wrexham and Flintshire. Here at the Leader we decided to ask you, our readers, what your favourite independent shops are.
The Firefly Shiny Shop, based in the Central Arcade, was a popular choice in Wrexham. Delivering the 'personal touch', the store sells a variety of handmade goodies. Rebecca Price says this is her "bestest" shop.
Also in the Central Arcade is 'Sweet Memories', a popular traditional sweet shop. "They just don't make them like this anymore. A proper classic", said Brian Humphreys.
After launching in Cefn Mawr earlier this year, Moonbakes Bakery has proven to be a hit in Wrexham, offering delicious baked goods and unique flavours. Jacqueline Tudor describes the cakes as "sooo yummmmmy."
Another classic is the 'Mad4Movies' stall, originally from the Butchers Market now temporarily based in Queens Square. It has been a favourite among locals for many years.
For those with fury friends, Groom to Bloom Dog Grooming received several shoutouts, based in Summerhill.
Alternatively, Divine Tattoos in New Broughton has been named "One of the best home grown success stories", according to Wayne Foulkes.
For the wine lovers out there, Alticcio Wine is highly recommended. "There's just so much choice and its all so nicely presented", said Jennifer Ruby.
Also mentioned are Tackle Temple based in Johnstown, Rhosddu Carpets & Astons furniature, Wrexham Motoring Supplies and Retrograde Cafe based in Eagles Meadow.

Vicki Taylor agreed and said "Best cake shop around", while Anna Salt said the store was "Absolutely amazing." The Kinderella Cookie Pie received an honourable mention.
The Chainstore Outlet received huge praise. Victoria Nicholas said: "Amazing. The staff are friendly, helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Items are top quality at very affordable prices. Best shop to come to Mold."
For those who appreciate handmade skincare, Omeda Crafts is the place to be, according to our responses. With natural soaps and haircare, it is a solid favourite for many.
Have you tried K&G Chocolates and Truffles? Launching in 2018, owner Kevin is thrilled he finally gave his true passion a small business. Readers said everything is completely handmade in the Mold-based workshop.
