A BIKE show raised more than £2,000 for a specialist unit at Glan Clwyd Hospital, it has been confirmed.

The Forgotten Bike Show, organised by the Bagillt-based Forgotten Riders MCC, took place in Holywell on Saturday.

At the latest count, the event has raised more than £2,000 for the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU).

As well as live music, the show featured a wide selection of bikes to see, competitions, stalls and refreshments.

"The staff there are amazing. The job takes so much mental strength - It's something I couldn't do, but I can raise money for the unit.

"The weather this year put some people off I think, but we raised over £2,000 which is amazing."

A number of raffles were also held, with prizes donated by many of the Holywell High Street businesses.

The top prize - a custom fully insulated bike shed worth £5,000 - was made and donated by Kingspan in Greenfield.

The club will be organising a ride out to deliver a cheque to SCBU via the charity Cuddles in the coming weeks.

He added the club was also very pleased to have North Wales Police and BikeSafe at the event, adding bike safety is something he strongly believes in.

"It was a really good atmosphere," he added.

"The more knowledge we can give people about riding bikes on the road, the better."
