CONCERNS have been raised following reports of off-road biking at a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) in Wrexham.
In recent weeks, there have been several reports of motorbikes accessing land near the Bonc Yr Hafod country park, near Johnstown.
The country park is situated near to the old brickworks, which is privately owned and has been labelled "not safe" for bike riding.
As a Site of Speical Scientific Interest (SSSI), work is ongoing in a bid to prevent the biking from taking place at the country park, with Wrexham Council working alongside North Wales Police, and the land owner.
Councillor David A Bithell said: "The old brickworks site is private land and some parts are not safe for bike riding.
"Over the last few weeks I have been working with the police and the council's public protection and rangers to try and prevent and deter access.

"The country park is an SSSI site and has protected status - motor bikes are prohibited.
"We have also nominated Bonc yr Hafod as part of the green spaces for good as part of the fields in trust, which means the park is there forever.
"Local people use the country park without the added risk of motorbikes."
A spokesperson for North Wales Police said: "We are aware of reports of off-road bikes being used in this area and there is various ongoing work and operations taking place to prevent and deter such activity."
