A WREXHAM school have been fundraising for a service that allows people of all abilities to cycle.

Pupils at St Christopher's School have been using the bikes at Pedal Power in Alyn Waters Country Park.

The experience has had a huge positive impact on the youngsters, who decided they wanted to raise money to support the charity and the work they do.

Last week the children took part in a sponsored walk up Moel Famau, to the Jubilee Tower at the summit, and back down to the Bwlch Penbarras car park.

Teacher at St Christopher's, Richard Lloyd, said: "We were able to complete our Moel Famau challenge, despite heavy showers.

"It was a tough hike but the pupils all enjoyed it and were rewarded with some stunning views of the valley below.

"The Jubilee Tower was under cloud cover all the way up, which added to its mystique! We were relieved to reach the summit and celebrated our achievement.

"The weather improved on the way down, so we were able to enjoy our lunch and a well-earned rest with incredible views across the Clwydian Range.

"Everyone was exhausted by the time we reached our minibus, which meant it was a quiet journey back to school."

"We have far exceeded our original target of £100, currently with a total of £646 on our JustGiving page. The pupils have been heavily involved in this fundraiser and are passionate about the importance Pedal Power has for our school and the community.

"We have seen first-hand the positive effect cycling has had on our pupils' health and wellbeing."

Rob Pullen, Cycling4All Officer with Pedal Power, added: "It has been fantastic to see the positive effects the regular visits to Pedal Power have had on the pupils from St Christopher's.

"It has been a privilege to work with them and we are thrilled that they have wanted to give something back to Pedal Power through this tremendous Moel Famau challenge. A huge well done to all involved".
