A DEDICATED couple from Nottingham are on a quest to do the ultimate pub crawl across the UK.

Saturday, July 13 marked Dale Harvey and Holly Booth's 850th day in the challenge so far this year. To celebrate, the pair finally visited... Wrexham!

To kickstart their Welsh adventure, they headed straight to The Turf. A tourist spot for many, including international football fans thanks to Wrexham AFC co-chairmen Ryan Reynolds and Rob McEhlenney.

The pub sits next door to the famous Stok Cae Ras along Mold Road.

Dale said: "A great little pub that's heavily featured in the series 'Welcome to Wrexham' and has a super little atmosphere!

"We then headed across the town to start our assault on the main town centre pubs."

The couple visited Magic Dragon Brewery Tap which offer a good selection of their own offerings. A "top place" with a mixture of ages and styles.

The Welsh Fusilier Craft Union pub was next on their list which was busy upon their arrival - not a free table in sight! Always a good sign.

Opposite is Saith Seren, a community-feel pub with games and a stage area for hosting live music. Here, Dale and Holly opted for the famous Wrexham Lager and loved it.

"I had to sample that of course", Dale said. "It's actually a REALLY good lager."

Rough Hands Tap, which opened in April this year, was the couple's next pub of choice and received a glowing review. "This is as close to a perfect craft beer bar as you'll find", Dale said. A modern and progressive atmosphere with plenty of seating inside. "Lovely service, some fantastic beers on offer and a super ambiance."

The Cross Foxes was up next, a local style pub with a friendly demeanor and service. "No real ales, but decent choices amongst the taps. Decently priced, too."

Dale and Holly then stepped inside The Parish, a "top notch Indie Music Bar" in the heart of Wrexham. They praised the friendliness of their staff and the excellent line up of craft beers including IPAs and lagers making it a big thumbs up.

The interior of Old No.7 certainly impressed and was a true highlight of the crawl with its decked out building, gorgeously uneven stone walls and great beer selection. Yet another "top-notch establishment." So far, so good.

After popping into a few of Wrexham's clubs including Penny Black and Ironworks, the couple headed to a few more traditional and older establishments. First up was The Royal Oak, a Joules Pub. Dale commented: "A super little place. Clearly an old, historic building and with all the beer line up that you'd expect. Gorgeous little place!"

The Drunk Monk also received an honourable mention, referred to as a "hidden gem" with its smartly decked out, modern style micro venue. Definitely worth a visit.

A "pub that doesn't pretend to be something it's not" is The Golden Lion, a gorgeous old building featuring wood beams. The pair even ordered another Wrexham Lager which blew them away.

Other venues visited include; Magic Dragon Brewery, The Old Swan, New York New York, The Rockin' Chair, One to Five and The Wrexham Cwtch.

By the time the night had ended, Dale and Holly had visited a grand total of 18 pubs during their trip to Wrexham. Not a bad Saturday, some would say.
