A MAN has been left fighting for life after a gas explosion on a boat at a North Wales marina.  

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service has said six crews, including an aerial ladder platform, are at the scene of the incident at Porth Penrhyn, near Bangor.

The fire service was called at 1.37pm today (Saturday, July 13), with an air ambulance also landing nearby. Police are also in attendance. 

A North Wales Police spokesperson said: "A man has been taken to hospital with life threatening injuries following an incident at Porth Penrhyn, Bangor.

"Emergency services were called to the marina shortly before 2pm today, to tackle a fire caused by a gas explosion on a boat.

"A man was subsequently taken to hospital with life threatening injuries by air ambulance."

They added: "Police and Fire Service remain at the location whilst our investigations are ongoing.

"Thank you to residents for their ongoing support and patience whilst we are in attendance."
