FLINTSHIRE County Council is pleased to advise that the A550 will reopen this afternoon.

From 5pm on Friday, July 12 the A550 (Tinkersdale) between Dobshill Roundabout and Glynne Way will reopen to the public. This is following the completion of essential repair works.

The road was closed on July 4 "in the interest of public safety." The local authority made the announcement due to the condition of the carriageway.

The condition of the road had deteriorated significantly between scheduled safety inspections and is considered unsafe for all highway users.

A council spokesperson said: "The road had to be closed for full carriageway resurfacing recently due to significant deterioration of the road condition.

"In addition to resurfacing, additional works have taken place including cropping any overhanging trees and branches, road sweeping and repairing the pedestrian restraint fences to ensure the safety and usability of the road.

"Once again, the Council would like to thank residents and businesses in the area for their patience and understanding during these necessary works."
