FLINTSHIRE Council has issued an update on when a main road will likely reopen after it was damaged by a burst water main.

A section of the A549 Dirty Mile, near Buckley, has been closed since Monday evening after the road surface gave way.

The busy road links Buckley and Dobshill - with the affected area of road situated near the Dobshill ambulance station.

Welsh Water has been working on repairing the road over the last couple of days.

On Thursday, a Flintshire Council spokesperson said the road is expected to reopen on Friday morning.

A Welsh Water spokesperson said: "“Following a burst water main, which had caused damage to the highway, we met with Flintshire Council Highways department on site yesterday when it was agreed to close a section of the A549 Dirty Mile, near Buckley, for repair work to ensure public safety.

"Work is ongoing and the road will be reopen tomorrow morning by 6am.

"We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused while we carry out this essential work.”
