MOLD CARNIVAL organisers have paid tribute to the event and its volunteers in what has been described as ‘yet another fantastic community day'.

This year's carnival took place on Sunday (July 7) on the Kendrick's Field and The Rec as families flocked in their numbers to attend the annual free event.

Mold Carnival played host to a collection of memorable entertainment which included performances from Britain's Got Talent's Titan the Robot, the grand final of the carnival’s talent competition, Time2Shine, Urban Fusion, Buckley Cheerleaders, Black Veil, Stage Gems, Cor y Pentan and Mali Sigsworth.

Other entertainment throughout the day was provided by the fabulous BMX Stunt Show who performed three jaw-dropping shows, Full of Character who brought a host of familiar faces to visit the children and one of Mold Carnival’s favourites returned for his 10th year, once again offering his services free of charge, DJ Cookie, who kept the children entertained over on the Rec.

Also on the Rec was Ace of Sports with their football coaching, the Army with a number of military vehicles and the fun fair, along with a host of stalls, food and drink over both fields. The carnival parade was led by Cambria Band, who led the revellers down to the fields.

Mayor of Mold, Cllr Brian Lloyd, said: "Mold Carnival was yet again a wonderful, successfully planned family day out for everyone.

"Throughout the day, so many people stopped me to express their thanks to the volunteers and to Mold Town Council for putting on this event. It is the best community event in the town (if not around the whole area) and that’s all down to the hard work that the small volunteer carnival committee put in to this event - it takes them well over six months to get everything organised and then they are on the field from 6am through to 9pm.

"Their hard work, organisational skills and months of preparation and planning, culminated in a day of excitement, fun and entertainment, and better still it was all free. Lastly, the biggest thanks goes to our very own Jane Evans from Mold Town Council for her amazing skills in organising and leading such a huge event."

Deputy mayor, Cllr Paul Beacher, said: "I would like to express our sincere thanks to our wonderful business sponsors, their contributions to the event helps ensure this Mold Carnival remains free of charge for the thousands of people who come each year to enjoy.”

Jane Evans, Mold Town Council's Events and Community Engagement officer,  added: “On carnival day our volunteers did a staggering 359 hours volunteer hours, that’s just on just one day. In addition to this there were a number of volunteers who helped out on Friday and Saturday to rake Kendricks Field, as it would have made it very difficult to have held the carnival if the grass had not been cleared, that’s another 100+ volunteer hours carried out to do this task.

"I say it every time, without our volunteers, events such as Mold Carnival just would not happen. We should count ourselves very lucky with have these amazing people in our community.”
