A POPULAR Cheshire gastropub is set to continue its Guest Chef series, with Great British Menu star and author of Modern South Asian Kitchen, Sabrina Gidda.

Sabrina will be taking the reigns at the White Horse pub in Churton, near Holt,  this evening (Tuesday, July 9). The event series was introduced shortly after the pub opened in 2023 and has been highly successful, previously featuring the likes of Tom Kerridge, Simon Rimmer and Angela Hartnett.

The series sees some of the finest chefs in the country cook dinner service at the Elite Bistros venue, bringing with them a unique six-course meal including a snack, starter, main, pre-dessert, dessert and sweet.

Wolverhampton-born Sabrina Gidda twice competed in the prestigious Roux Scholarship competition in 2014/15, to the final six contestants nationally on both occasions – the only woman to do so in the competition’s history at the time. She went on to open Bernardi’s Restaurant in Marylebone and was instrumental in their culinary accolades.

Bernardi’s was mentioned in the Michelin Guide during her tenure, along as being noted as one of the best Italian Restaurant’s in London by both Conde Nast & Square Meal.

She has since appeared on the BBC’s Great British Menu, Celebrity Masterchef, Saturday Kitchen and recently published her book Modern South Asian Kitchen.

More information about the event, which begins at 7pm, can be found on the White Horse pub website.

The Guest Chef events are set to continue throughout the rest of 2024 and into 2025. The final event, featuring Michel Roux Jr and daughter Emily Roux, having already sold out.

However, there are other evenings with places available.

The White Horse was the first Elite Bistros pub venue, after a series of successful restaurants in the Northwest, which include Sticky Walnut in Hoole and Burnt Truffle in Heswall.

The venue was extensively refurbished at the beginning of last year and reopened in March 2023.
