The Flintshire County Council Digital Squad has been supported by a Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales.

Sam Rowlands MS praised the initiative to help residents get up to date with technology.

Mr Rowlands had heard about monthly sessions taking place in Flint designed to help those feeling left behind in the digital world.

Mr Rowlands said: "I was really pleased to hear about this initiative which is a great way of assisting those who struggle with technology.

"These days more than ever we all rely on mobile phones, iPads and laptops to keep in touch and find information so I was delighted to see Flint Town Council organising these sessions."

The aim is to help individuals understand the internet, emails and other digital applications.

Flintshire's Digital Squad volunteer their time to help those who need it, whether the problem is adding or deleting contacts, navigating websites or understanding social media.

"So if you want to learn more about accessing the internet and emails from experts then accept an invitation by the town council and bring your own device toa session at Flint Town Hall," added Mr Rowlands.

Digital inclusion is a priority for Flintshire County Council, and they are trying to make sure no resident is cut off from the digital world.

They have recently started a new service where volunteers from the organisation, called the Digital Support Squad, provide face-to-face support to build people's confidence in using digital technology.

This support is offered free of charge.

Two successful sessions have already taken place at Flint Town Hall in April and June, with three more planned.

The next sessions will be from 10-12noon on July 10, August 7 and September 11.
