A CHIC eatery based in Flintshire is undergoing a four-stage transformation to create a Welsh lifestyle cafe.

Owner Rob Lowe opted for a drastic career change when he left his role as a car salesman to open a bustling cafe in the heart of Mold.

And after 20 successful months of trading, Caffi'r Cob at 1A Earl Road is expanding its business to appeal to the wider community.

The venue will extend into the unit next door to allow for more seating, including comfortable sofas and a bar dedicated to Welsh wines and spirits. This change comes after Rob is left no choice but to turn customers away during the busier periods.

The expansion is classed as 'Stage Two' of the overall improvement project taking place at Caffi'r Cob, says Rob.

Stage Three is to offer Welsh gifts such as handmade soaps, candles and Welsh arts and sculptures.

Stage Four will involve changing the current cafe area into an upmarket salad and sandwich bar, featuring a wall dedicated to Welsh produce such as jams and chutneys, all with the support of Welsh Food Hub Blas ar Fwyd.

"It will ultimately be a lifestyle cafe dedicated to helping small Welsh suppliers and artists", Rob said.
