THE Met Office has predicted a changeable forecast during the first week of July.

Today (July 1) there will be a bright start in the east, but cloud and patchy rain in the far west will spread across the country.

It will turn drier and brighter for a time during the afternoon, before further cloud and patchy rain arrives later. Maximum temperature of 19 °C.

Later this evening, cloud and rain is forecast clearing to leave a largely dry night with clear spells.

It is expected to turn chilly in the countryside under the clearer skies. Minimum temperature 8 °C.

Tomorrow (July 2) will see a dry and bright start for most but cloud will build throughout the morning, with some showery rain developing for a time, especially in the north.

Confirming the outlook for Wednesday to Friday, a Met Office spokesperson said: "A breezy day Wednesday with patchy rain moving eastwards. Drier and brighter skies return on Thursday with just the odd shower.

"Mainly dry on Friday but rain potentially arriving later."
