THE Chester Grosvenor’s bakery has been named among the best in the world.
La Liste has revealed the winners of its 2024 Pastry Awards with one UK bakery (Lannan Bakery in Scotland) claiming a major accolade and more than 150 others making into onto the list of the world's best.
The long list of the world's best bakeries features 198 sites from across the UK from locations including London, Manchester, Edinburgh and North Wales.
The Grosvenor, which says it is proud to serve what it believes to be the “best afternoon tea in Chester”, offers a range of pastries and cakes on its Brasserie and Afternoon Tea menus.

Many visitors seem to support La Liste’s selection, with several reviews on Tripadvisor attesting to the quality of their pastries.
One person said a visit was “well worth it” adding: “Fine cut sandwiches, beautiful dainty pastries and scones and the best China cups and silver tea pot.”
Another said of a visit to the Grosvenor: “My wife had coffee and a toasted tea cake while I enjoyed a sample of the pastries.
“Needless to say, we enjoyed them immensely, so much so that we made a point of dropping in every morning on our visit to Chester and going through the pastry menu. Every one was a winner.”
Another added: “Afternoon tea was the best I've ever tasted. Each cake was unique and so amazing, the scones were fresh and delicious and there was a good selection of tasty sandwiches.”
